  32. Release Policy:
  33.  The shareware version of Money Smith can be freely distributed
  34.  as long as you abide by the terms of the license and don't 
  35.  charge a fee or otherwise profit from distribution.  See 
  36.  vendor.txt or the license for sample reviews and for-profit
  37.  distribution terms.

  39. Printing this file: (Approx 6 pages)
  40.   Use the notepad to view/print this file or just use the DOS
  41.   PRINT command as in:
  42.     c:>  print readme.txt
  43.  
  44. Looking at the manual:
  45.   Use the windows program manager to bring up the Write
  46.   Application that comes with windows 3.0.  It is usually under
  47.   the 'Applications' program group.  Use the File Open command
  48.   in Write to open the file SMITH.WRI.  Use the File Print
  49.   command in to print it.  The calculator user's manual is in
  50.   the file MSCALC.WRI.  You may prefer to set the font for the
  51.   manuals to a printer font before printing them.

  53. Installation using the setup program:
  54.   If you are loading Money Smith from a floppy disk you should
  55.   have a file called "setup.exe" on it.  Run this command 
  56.   Choose the File Run command from the menu of your program 
  57.   manager and type in 'a:\setup' or 'b:\setup' to run the Money
  58.   Smith setup program from your drive.  Alternately you can
  59.   double click on the file from the Windows program manager.
  60.   Setup will fully install Money Smith including installation
  61.   in the program manager.  If you have trouble running setup 
  62.   consult the manual instructions below.

  64. From the shareware source: 
  65.  Odds are pretty good you downloaded this from a bulletin board
  66.  or copied it from a friend.  Odds are equally good the program
  67.  is compacted in some way.  Create a new directory for Money
  68.  Smith on your hard disk and copy the archived version to this
  69.  new directory.  The most popular file compaction programs 
  70.  follow: 
  71.  
  72.  Self Extracting Archive example: smith2.exe - you need to run 
  73.     smith.exe 
  74.  PKZIP format: example: smith2.zip - you need to run  
  75.     pkunzip smith2.zip 
  76.  PKARC format: example smith2.arc - you need to run 
  77.     pkunpak smith2.arc 
  78.  LHARC format: example smith2.lzh - you need to run 
  79.     lharc x smith2.lzh

  81.  You can get all three of these shareware unpacking programs
  82.  from your nearest bulletin board or a local users group.  
  83.  Other packing programs are popular, so ask the person you 
  84.  got the program from. Once unpacked you can use the setup.exe
  85.  program to setup Money Smith. See the instructions above.

  87. Manual Installation:
  88.  You can manually install Money Smith if setup fails to do so
  89.  or if you simply prefer manual installation.  Setup sometimes
  90.  will fail to unpack the self extracting archive SMITHARC.EXE 
  91.  if enough memory is not available in in a MSDOS window from 
  92.  Windows.  This usually occurs only on computers with 2MB or
  93.  fewer.  Comments are marked with * and should not be typed in.
  94.  Type the commands that are in ALL CAPS at the C> MSDOS prompt.

  96. If you have not run setup:
  97.  *  1. Create a destination directory on your hard disk of
  98.  *     your choice
  99.  MKDIR C:\SMITH2
  100.  *  2. Copy the files from your disk to the new directory
  101.  COPY  A:*.* C:\SMITH2
  102.  *  3. Change to the new directory
  103.  CD  \SMITH2
  104.  *  4. Manually run the self extracting archive if present
  105.  SMITHARC.EXE
  106.  *  5. Install Money Smith in the Windows Program Manager
  107.  *     using the File New command as described in your Windows
  108.  //    manual.  You need to add the executables SMITH.EXE and
  109.  //    MSCALC.EXE to your program manager groups.
  110.  
  111. If you have run Setup and it failed:
  112.  Assuming Setup has already created the directory and copied 
  113.  the files for you - all you need to do is go through steps 
  114.  3-5 above.  (Change to the directory, run SMITHARC, and add
  115.  the files SMITH.EXE and MSCALC.EXE to your program manager.
  116.  
  117. Licensing:
  118.   The license terms are online accessible from the Help menu
  119.   of Money Smith. They are listed at the end of the smith.wri
  120.   documentation file. Money Smith is shareware and not free.
  121.   You have 30 days to try it. The shareware version is 
  122.   provided completely AS IS with no warranty either express or
  123.   implied.  You take the risk for using it.  If you are a 
  124.   registered user you get mail support for 90 days.

  126. Licensing Screen:
  127.   When you start Money Smith for the first time a licensing 
  128.   screen will pop up asking you to read the license and type
  129.   in your name.  Please read the license, type your name in,
  130.   and press the 'I Agree' button.  The 'I Agree' button will
  131.   not be enabled until you type your name in.  You only need
  132.   to go through this process once.

  135.   You are granted a 30 day trial license to decide if Money
  136.   Smith is for you.  After that period you are expected to
  137.   register Money Smith to continue using it.  Registration 
  138.   costs $29.95 + $4 shipping & handling.  You can print the 
  139.   register.txt file to register or order toll free using the
  140.   number below. Discounts for group (MAIL ONLY) orders, site
  141.   licenses, etc.. are listed in the register.txt file.  Please
  142.   note: discounts and site licenses are only available via mail
  143.   directly from Money Smith Systems using the register.txt 
  144.   file.  You cannot get quantity discounts or site licenses by
  145.   phone or from Foreign registraion agents!
